Collection Highlights: Gastón Baquero Papers

Gastón Baquero (1914-1997) was a Cuban poet, writer, and intellectual who first gained recognition with the 1942 publications of Poemas and Saúl sobre su espada. He was a member of the avant-garde literary collective Orígenes, before he changed his focus to journalism, becoming Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper El Diario de la Marina.

The Gastón Baquero Papers, 1956-1999 consists of correspondence, books, and other materials written and collected by Baquero during his exile in Madrid, Spain. The collection came to the CHC in 1996 thanks to the support of the Amigos of the Cuban Heritage Collection.
